Measuring for made-to-measure Harris Tweed curtains
This guide shows you exactly where to measure for each curtain heading and how to measure the correct width and drop for your made-to-measure curtains.
Please measure in centimetres (cm) using a metal tape measure where possible. Measure each window individually, even if they appear to be the same size.

Sill length curtains
Measure from the correct point for your chosen curtain heading down to the window sill.
For a neat finish, measure to approximately
1 cm above the sill.
Below sill length curtains
Measure from the correct point for your chosen curtain heading down to where you would like the curtains to finish.
For a balanced look, curtains usually finish approximately
15 cm below the window sill.
Floor length curtains
Measure from the correct point for your chosen curtain heading down to the floor.
For a neat finish, measure to approximately
1 cm above the floor
to prevent the curtains from dragging.
Where to measure from
The starting point for your curtain drop depends on the heading style and whether your curtains hang from a pole or track. Choose your heading below and measure from the point shown.
Eyelet & Leather Tab
Measure from the top of the curtain pole down to where you would like your curtains to finish.
Pencil Pleat on Pole
Measure from the underside of the curtain ring down to where you would like your curtains to finish.
Wave on Pole
Measure from the top of the curtain pole down to where you would like your curtains to finish.
Pencil Pleat & Wave on Track
Measure from the top of the curtain track down to where you would like your curtains to finish.
Take the measurement in centimetres (cm) using a metal tape measure where possible.
How to measure the width
Make sure your measurement includes the full width you want the curtains to cover, including any space at the sides of the window where you want the curtains to rest when they are open.
Make sure the track extends far enough beyond the window to include where you want the curtains to rest when they are open.
